Red....BRAVERY and COURAGE

Blue....LOYALTY and TRUTH

White....FAITH and PURITY

The flag of the United States of America are represented in these three colors. The red and white stripes represent the 13 original colonies. The stars patterned on the blue represent the 50 states, each state having a star to represent it.

"Patriotism is a love for one's country and a loyalty to that country. It is a willingness to serve and sacrifice for one's country."

"Patriotism is that love for country in the hearts of the people which shall make that country strong to resist foreign opposition and domestic intrigue-which impresses each and every individual with a sense of the inalienable rights of others and prepares him to accept the responsibility of protecting those rights." -American Tribune, March 7, 1890

"Love of country involves a love for the land itself, a respect for the nation's heritage, and a pride in the opportunities offered by the country."

"Patriotism is NOT the same as nationalism. Nationalism is the promotion of one's own nation and government regardless of moral considerations. True patriots do not try to vindicate the actions of their rulers; rather, they seek to promote a sincere belief in honor, faith, duty, and loyalty and to identify with those beliefs.

H E R I T A G E

"Heritage are the characteristics and traditions that have been handed down to us by our ancestors. America's Founding Fathers were men of great character and responsibility. They were well-educated thinkers who wanted their children to live in a free country. They founded the nation upon great principles of freedom."

WE HAVE A CHRISTIAN HERITAGE.

---No matter what anyone may say, America was founded on GOD'S WORD.--

In the inner stairwell of the Washington Monument, John 5:39 is written "Search the scriptures..."

At the Supreme Court, engraved above the head of the chief justice is the Ten Commandments.

Micah 6:8 "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" and Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork." can be found along the walls of the Library of Congress.

On the Lincoln Memorial, the words of Lincoln himself are inscribed, "As was said 3,000 years ago, so it still must be said, 'The judgments of the Lord are true and righeous altogether.' "

A BLESSED NATION

"America has been blessed because many of her Founding Fathers and millions of American men and women through the years patterned their lives after the standard of righteousness found in God's Word."
Proverbs 14:34 "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."
"The reason for our nation's greatness over the past 200 years has been the righteous character of her people."
1 Samuel 2:30 "Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed."
"Our beliefs determine our character and our character that determines our behavior."

"A memorial is meant to be a reminder, a reminder of what has happened. Memorials can serve as a reminder of what God has done for us-for America."
"Americanism means the virtues of courage, honor, justice, truth, sincerity, and hardihood-the virtues that made America. The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love-of-sof-living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life." -President Theodore Roosevelt
"Christians have the responsibility of praying for their country's leaders (1 Tim. 2:1,2)
We have become a great nation because we have replied upon God to be our strength and our source of protection. (Joshua 1:8)."
"Stay informed, express opinions to representives vote in national state local elections."

Note: How many of you have heard of the Barbary Wars? I'm wanting to post my next journal on this and give some interesting information on that. I'm really wanting to share, and I was just curious as to how many have even heard of "America's Forgotten Wars."
and
If you look, a majority of this journal is made up of quotations from resources and even from our own past Presidents. I did add something from my own words though

Nice quote from Roosevelt... Here's a good one from Lincoln:
"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
